Lion City Toastmasters Club is proud to present…a special skill workshop on “The Art of Storytelling”
Storytelling is one of the oldest performance arts in the world. Nearly every culture has its band of wandering philosophers who instruct people in the paths of wisdom through the charm of stories. The art of storytelling is one of the most useful things in the arsenal of the public speaker. In the words of an ancient philosopher, “He who tells stories rules the world!”
The usefulness of this skill is reflected in the Toastmasters programme of speech exposure. There is an advanced manual on “Storytelling”. Genres include the folk tale, personal stories, didactic stories, stories told with feeling, and stories from history. How do we learn to do this well, and mesmerize the audience with the truths of life garnered from kernel of stories from life and bygone generations?

The Great Club Award Winner from Division D

Toa Payoh Central CC Toastmasters Club was selected as one of Toastmasters International District 80 – The Great Club Award for 2008-2009.
The award was to recognize the time and efforts involved in producing such a great club and to commend for the outstanding achievement. Toa Payoh Central CC Toastmasters Club has made a significant contribution to the excellence of District 80. The Club promotes effective communication among district, help members and the organization achieve goals, and foster pride and fellowship among members.
It is also to recognize club’s commitment to achieve President’s Distinguished Club and to produce 10 Competent Communications before 30 June 2009.
Angela Oh, the club representative, received the award from District 80 Governor, Goh Wei Koon DTM, and the Lieutenant Governors during the 2009 Hong Kong Convention.

Wednesday, May 20th, 2009Division D is having the Division D Achievers’ Day on 30th May Saturday at Cairnhill CC, from 2.00pm to 5.30pm.
If you have any club member who wish to do P9 or P10 of Basic Communicator Manual, or P4/P5 of the 2nd Advanced Manual leading to an educational award, please reply to us.
We will do our best to slot you in.

Lim Ee Cheong gave an excellent performance at the International Speech Contest.
